Somatic Breathwork
Trauma Release, Emotional Wellness & Optimal Health
The Comprehensive Guide Breathwork Professionals Have Been Waiting For
Most breathwork trainings teach techniques. Few teach science, trauma-informed principles, safety considerations, contraindications, nervous system dynamics, and facilitation skills required to work with clients responsibly and effectively.
Somatic Breathwork: Trauma Release, Emotional Wellness & Optimal Health fills that void!
This comprehensive 768-page textbook combines breathwork theory, somatic and bodywork principles, trauma-informed care, neuroscience, psychology, the physics of energy medicine, clinical considerations, safety imperatives, and advanced facilitation practices into one authoritative resource.
Breathwork professionals, students-in-training, healthcare practitioners, coaches, therapists, and dedicated breathers gain a deeper understanding of this work and the knowledge and framework needed to practice with confidence, safety, and integrity.
Trauma Lives in the Body
Whether born from a single overwhelming event or the cumulative challenges of everyday life, unresolved trauma shapes how we think, feel, relate, and move through the world.
Its imprint is not only psychological—it is physiological.
Through the lens of Blissful Journey Breathwork, this book explores how trauma is stored within the nervous system and the whole bodymind, and how somatic breathwork can support the release of unresolved emotional injury while promoting resilience, emotional wellness, and optimal health.

"I especially appreciate how the book connects somatic principles, the nervous system,
and conscious breathing in a way that creates a path toward greater self-awareness, balance,
and healing. Having experienced this work through Blissful Journey Wellness
—and teaching some of their techniques I learned with my own business consulting—
I believe this is a meaningful and powerful resource for anyone who wants
to better understand the breath, reconnect with themselves,
and experience greater energy from the inside out."
--Claudia Esser Brown, Haniel Consulting, Rochester, NH
"If you're a breathwork practitioner, if you're learning, if you do breathwork on your own,
this is the book to have. It's my new 'Go-To'! You're going to love it."
--Natalia Bennett, Breathworker and Montessori educator in El Paso, TX
Book FAQs
Q. Can I buy this book from any country and have it shipped?
A. We have 3 geographic portals through which to purchase the book so that almost every country will be able to buy and have it shipped without having it sent across an ocean from the USA.
There are separate order links for the USA and the United Kingdom (UK). Each is fulfilled by local print facilities of IngramSpark/Lightning Source.
For the rest of the World, orders are fulfilled by Lulu Press which has facilities in Europe and places like Canada, Australia, and India. For other countries, Lulu routes the order to be printed at the nearest facility and have it shipped internationally. (Always check delivery rates upon checkout as they will vary.)
The only countries that may have no access are those that are subject to USA trade embargoes or perhaps war zones where carriers simply cannot deliver.
A. No, there is no inherent difference in print and manufacture quality between our two print partners. While they may have different suppliers for their paper and use different equipment to produce the finished book, they are both high-quality offset printing facilities unlike Amazon Kindle Direct which uses high-speed inkjet technology of generally lower quality.
We have ordered proof copies of both formats from each print partner. Any defects noticed would be either an anomaly or the result of poor handling by the shipping carrier.
A. Like with most products, if the book arrives damaged by carrier or was printed poorly, buyer would need to contact either IngramSpark or Lulu Press directly to get satisfaction in accordance with their return/replacement policy. We urge buyers to do so immediately upon receipt and provide digital photographic evidence of the physical damage to the seller.
A. There are two physical formats. 1) Hardcover (Case Laminate) and 2) Paperback (Perfect Bound). The former is obviously more durable but does not come with a dust jacket.
Each format is Full-Color with paper stock robust enough to prevent "ghosting" on color-intensive pages. The trim size is 7 x 10 inches. With 768 pages, the book weighs in at about 3 pounds, with a spine-width a bit above 2 inches. It's a hefty volume overall.
Q. Will there be an eBook version?
A. We are planning an eBook version, however, it will be an online PDF format, not the more standard EPUB format we use on phones and e-readers. This decision is due, in part, to the effort involved in reformatting a graphically-complex 768-page book.
This means the PDF eBook would not be downloadable by personal e-readers or other devices. Access is through online web browser only so that buyer would purchase ONLY if that method were acceptable.
A. Sorry, a Large-Print version is not possible for several reasons. 1) It requires reformatting a complex manuscript with so many graphics, smaller printed footnotes, and appendix content. 2) The resulting volume would become so huge that there is perhaps no publishing company capable of handling such a page count. 3) The formatting would end up looking so awkward with justified text revealing unattractive stretches of white space. 4) Even the graphics would need to be enlarged ruining the design motif of the book.
As for an Audio version, there is no practical use because the text constantly refers to graphics and thus the listener is unable to see essential details to which the speaker is referring.

About The Author
Stephen began with the Transformational Breath Foundation (TBF) back in 2001. He served as a Trainer, having completed certification in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and the Netherlands. He was also a former CEO of TBF's parent company and has led events in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Hampshire, the US South, Costa Rica, as well as France and Sweden before marrying Grace and co-creating Blissful Journey Breathwork with our new somatic integrative approach.
With 26 years of integrative breathwork experience, Stephen brings additional expertise as an Herbalist (Dominion Herbal College, 1998), Yoga Teacher (Nosara Yoga Institute, 2003), Massage Therapist and Teaching Assistant (Health Choices, 1999, 2000), Usui Reiki Master (2003), and Holographic Sound Healer (2023).
Breathwork changed his life so dramatically that he finally left his corporate career back in 2003 to pursue this work, along with complementary modalities, on a full-time basis. The impact of countless self-sessions and witnessing the healing experiences of so many clients inspired him to catalog his techniques, learning, and journey in this book.
